Tennis TournamentOn 14th April Cleeve Tennis Club hosted its second junior tennis tournament and players represented the host club, Wrington and Congresbury tennis clubs.. Competition was divided to cover 3 age groups of children and young people. Prizes were awarded to finalists and all participants received a medal. This well attended event was enjoyed supporting families and members and was a great success. Yeo Valley Lions were privileged to continue with their support for the tournament. For many years the Lions have supported sporting development in local villages but have never ventured in lawn tennis before. Special mention should be given to John Tate the club coach and club chairman Phil Stackhouse for their efforts. John was able to assist Yeo Valley Lions President Graham Marshall in the presentation. |
YEO VALLEY LIONS SANTA SLEIGH RUNSanta's back in the North Pole and the Lions' sleigh is mothballed for another year! But after some truly dreadful weather during December when our elves got very wet, our villages' usual generosity was undeterred and our collections will contribute substantial sums to our local charities. We are so grateful to all the children, parents and grandparents who came out to see Santa, who gave our elves a great welcome, and filled up the envelopes and buckets. We couldn't do our community work without your donations so a BIG thank you to you all. |

The Lions club provided the food and volunteers from the Club helped with setting up the room and serving drinks. There was a local disk jockey who sang and played well known songs from the 60s and 70s, prompting many of us to take to the floor! |
