Helping Others
At the heart of Yeo Valley Lions is a deep commitment to caring for those in our community who may be going through tough times. Our Welfare work is one of the most meaningful aspects of what we do — offering a helping hand when it’s most needed.
Whether it’s providing essential household items to someone starting over, assisting with urgent home needs, or giving physical support to help someone overcome a challenge, we treat every request with compassion, dignity, and care. Each case is looked at individually, and referrals can come from community professionals or directly from the families themselves.
We also believe in the power of simple kindness. At Christmas, our members make special efforts to remember elderly residents who may be living alone or in care homes — delivering thoughtful gifts and taking time for a cheerful visit and a friendly chat.
Our monthly Lunch Club and Coffee Mornings are part of this same mission. These gatherings offer a relaxed, welcoming space for older residents to meet, reconnect, and enjoy the warmth of community over a hot meal or cuppa.
As a recognised Dementia Friendly organisation, we proudly support the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society. We regularly host Coffee Mornings and Singing for the Brain sessions — uplifting experiences designed to bring joy, music, and connection to those living with dementia and their carers.
Everything we do under Welfare reflects our belief that no one should feel forgotten or left behind — and that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference.
