Barton Camp Visit

Our monthly social this week by a group of Lions and their Partners was a visit to Barton Camp, in the Foothills of the Mendips above Winscombe

Over the year's we have helped to raise funds for this very special place for disadvantaged children, culminating in our Charity Golf day in May where we managed to raise £3500 for them. We were privileged to be able to visit the camp to view the facilities, and how children from around the Bristol and North Somerset area are able to have a break from their normal lives, in a beautiful rural setting

the pictures above show the beautiful setting, an activity room and the main dining hall

Bristol Children’s Help Society offers residential and outdoor learning experiences for children whose personal circumstances have significantly depleted their life opportunities. This could be the result of a wide variety of situations including disability, poverty, parental drug or alcohol misuse, their own status (including being in care or a carer), entering the UK as a refugee, bereavement or mental health issues. Their aim is to promote aspiration, self-determination and resilience through a range of outdoor, team building activities in a rural residential setting.
