Strawbery Lions Walk 2026
On 17 May in glorious sunshine a record 123 walkers set off on our 13th Strawberry Lion Walk. The event allows entrants to raise sponsorship funds for charities and clubs of their choice and for Yeo Valley Lions.
This year our designated charity was Lions Brass 4 Youth who meet in Clevedon and now run four bands. The band members really got behind the challenge and entered a tea of 58 who raised a record breaking £881 in sponsorship. Allan Burn (007), our long time supported raised £170, Neil from Yatton Village Hall £350 and fellow Lions Dave McGovern and John Oldham £670 and £260 respectively.
The total sum raised for all charities was almost £5000 and we were able to present a cheque to Lions Brass 4 Youth for £3600.
As usual we remain extremely grateful for the continued generosity of our sponsors, Stowell's Concrete Ltd, Phoenix Tax and Advice, Cheddar Water, Tesco and Ommec Direct.
Next year’s walk will be on 16 May 2027 and our chosen beneficiary is our Lions Playground for children with special needs. The playground has to be relocated which will be a very expensive exercise.
All details of our next year’s walk are on the Lions website www.yeovalleylions.org.uk and we would love to see you next May.
